Another Chrysler DRB II

Let's have a look at a slightly newer DRB II

Moddler

This DRB II has a little damage to the display foil. The display is unharmed though. The “ATM” button has seen better times.

This DRB II has a pouch on the back side for Chryslers Diagnostic Test Procedure cards. Also the serial number starts with the letter “E”.

The DRB II on the left has a serial number starting with “C”. Pictures of the inside are available on the other post. Presumably this is the revision-letter, so the left DRB II is older than the one on the right. The DRB II logo has changed slightly and “Chrysler Motors” changed to “Chrysler Corporation”.

..the back side did not really change with the revisions.

The insides of this model have a different arrangement than the older DRB II. The CCD chip is now located under the display unit.

The display flex cable dates this device to 9-28-1993.

The CPU did not change, its still the Motorola MC68HC11A1FN.

The PCB is labeled OTC 231168c and is made in the USA.

As a voltage regulator the LM2940CT was not changed.

The display unit changed slightly and now states the partnumber PWB2043B-CEM.

The manufacturer is Optrex and another partnumber can be found, DMC20434. The display controller chip is a Hitachi HD44780A00.

The Harris 306846 CCD Interface chip now is directly soldered to the PCB.

Concluding, not too much changed during revisions.
